Toofprints x Trafohaus

From June 18 to September 25, Toofprints will be pasting large format posters at two public sites: (1) Alice Yard in Belmont, Port of Spain and (2) Trafohaus in Kassel, Germany, Alice Yard’s partner venue for Documenta 15.

Toofprints is a side project exploring typographic posters in a public space since 2016 — now at Granderson Lab, a project of Alice Yard. Curated by Kriston Chen in conversation with Erik Brandt, founder of Ficciones Typografika.

As of 2020, the exhibition surface is now located on a sidewalk window space in Belmont, Port of Spain, with the following dimensions: 42 1/8" (H) x 60 3/8" (W) or 107cm (H) x 153cm (W).

Call for Submissions:

Graphic design work that is typographic and pertaining to your native language or dialect is encouraged. If there is bleed, please include crop marks. Everything else is up to you — content, theme, etc. Also, please remember that the space is public. Poster(s) will be black & white printed on bond paper.

Documenta 15 is a 100 day exhibition, running from June 18 to September 25, 2022. Submission deadlines for poster is July 31st. Please submit your work via email to hello@toof.press in PDF format. Don’t forget to include crop marks if your work requires bleeds. Thanks.

Submission Notes:

i. Not all submissions will be accepted. Those that are accepted will be notified but it may take some time before your poster is pasted. We aim to put up about a poster a week. In addition, in the event that we have resources to create a zine to document this edition of toofprints, selected contributors will each receive a complimentary zine.

ii. Your poster, along with a link to your preferred website, will be featured on the project pages: Instagram

iii. Posters are printed at the curator’s own expense. If you agree to participate, a collection of these posters may be printed sometime in the future in a newsprint format. Any profit gained from that will be reapplied to the next publication. Contributors will receive one copy of the publication gratis, if and when it is created.

Details:

i. Poster Dimensions: 60 3/8" (H) x 42 1/8" (W) or 107cm (H) x 153cm (W) — open for dialogue.

ii. Colour: Please leave a .25" white border on all four sides but bleeds can also be accommodated, please include crop marks if so.

iii. File Format: PDF, flattened.

iv. Paper: bond paper (Trinidad); and blueback paper (Kassel).
